Amazon doesn’t know why customers keep getting unsolicited sex toys.

Unsolicited parcels have been turning up at homes around the US and Canada over the past weeks.

Some contain random gifts, like a Bluetooth speaker, LED lights, or a computer vacuum cleaner.

But now the mystery has taken an X-rated turn, with Amazon confirming that increasingly the items include sex toys.

That’s what happened to a woman named Nikki. She told The Daily Beast that when she originally received a $25 sex toy from Amazon she thought there’d been a mix-up. She’d bought some mascara from the shopping site that hadn’t arrived yet.

“At first I believed it to be a mistake,” she said. “I looked [the sex toy] up, and it’s $25, which is sort of substantial. It seems so personal.”

Amazon said that it’s investigating.

A spokesperson told The Sun in a statement: “We are investigating inquiries from consumers who have received unsolicited packages as this would violate our policies.”

“We have confirmed the sellers involved did not receive names or shipping addresses from Amazon. We remove sellers in violation of our policies, withhold payments, and work with law enforcement to take appropriate action.”

Nikki allegedly called Amazon customer service repeatedly to decipher the identity of the sender, with no luck.

Fearing she was being cyber-stalked, she wanted to figure out whether she should get the police involved.

On her first call with Amazon, Nikki says she had to fight with a representative and supervisor to take her concerns seriously.

“[They were] under the impression that I was simply calling to find out who sent me a fun gift to satisfy my own curiosity,” she told The Daily Beast.

After multiple calls, Nikki was reportedly asked to send in a subpoena with the name, credit card, and bank number of the person who mailed her the sex toy – details that she didn’t have.

But Nikki’s story isn’t an oddity.

Late last month, it emerged that a total of 40 individual Amazon items, estimated to be worth over $1,000, were mailed to students at universities across Canada, according to CBC.

Again, they contained sex toys including a vibrator and a fleshlight.

Meanwhile, Mike and Kelly Gallivan, a Boston couple, claimed to have received 25 Amazon items in total since October.

Earlier this month, a senior citizen from Volusia County, Florida, said she’d been sent a series of unwanted packages as well.

Some, including two former Amazon workers who spoke to The Boston Globe, believe the trend is part of an international Amazon scam.

The technique, known as “verified review hacking,” could involve sellers setting up dummy accounts to buy and ship their own products to strangers.

Those fake accounts could then be used to give the product a 5-star review, which in turn would help it surface higher in Amazon and Google searches.

It’s essentially all an elaborate method of gaming Amazon’s review system, which heavily weights verified purchases.

But, Amazon claims that’s not the case.

The company told The Sun: “We investigate every report of customers receiving unsolicited packages, and thus far our investigations have shown very few reviews submitted associated with these shipments.”

“We will continue our ongoing efforts to prevent abuse and will ban all vendors and reviewers who abuse the reviews system.”
