Door remains unlocked at NYCHA building where killer strolled inside.

Add dangerously lax security to the laundry list of problems — lead paint, no heat and toxic mold — plaguing tenants of the city’s public housing. More than a year after a mentally unstable man waltzed right through a front door of the Jackie Robinson Houses with a broken locking mechanism and stabbed to death a 22-year-old resident — the entryway still does not latch, The Post found Tuesday.

And now the victim’s mother is suing the New York City Housing Authority over the safety breach.

“My son’s death could have been avoided,” said distraught mom Posie Green, whose son Tyrell Goven collapsed at the doorway of her apartment on Dec. 19, 2016.

Jamal Owens, who had a history of psychiatric problems, was able to push open the downstairs entrance of 111 E. 128th St. and then stabbed Govan in the chest and stomach in the building’s stairwell, the suit says.

Govan made it to his mother’s sixth-floor apartment before falling just inside her threshold.

He later died at the hospital. Owens was arrested for his murder.

“The door is not securely locked. They need to have better safety measures,” said Green, 65, a clerical associate with the city Department of Education.

Green has a message for Mayor de Blasio, whose come under sharp criticism for his handling of NYCHA: “Start putting security back in the building and maybe that will help crack down on a little bit of violence.”

Her suit, filed in Manhattan Tuesday, says NYCHA employees knew the “electro-magnetic and interfacing intercom system at the entrance was not functioning for an extended” period of time, yet did nothing to fix it.

Instead they allowed dangerous condition “to fester unabated,” her suit says.

NYCHA officials were also “aware of the fact that intruders would force open the doors on a daily or frequent basis,” according to court papers.

When The Post visited 111 E. 128th St. Tuesday the electromagnetic strip on the front door was not working. She simply had to give the handle a good tug to get inside.

She watched three other people do the same thing.

“There’s people that come in and out of our buildings and sit in the staircases,” said Niketa Johnakin.

“I have a teenager and two little ones and that’s real bad for them,” the 38-year-old cashier said.

Danielle Williams, 40, said she complained to management about the door problem and was told, ‘We’re gonna look into that.’

“We don’t have security here. Some days I go to work and there’s crack head people in this building that don’t belong here,” said Williams.

A NYCHA rep declined to comment on the pending litigation but said she would have her team check the doors at the building.
